If you like to take your pet outdoors, you need to consider adequate protection against such problems as Lyme disease and Heartworm that extend beyond the general itching and discomfort pets face with fleas and ticks.

Products with amitraz such as Tick Arrest can prevent Lyme Disease by killing ticks for 75 days. Amitraz is a powerful compound that paralyzes the mouth of a tick. This prevents the tick from biting into the dog's skin and doing permanent damage. This method is different from an insecticide that controls fleas.
