Why a separate category for Italian Greyhounds? These lovely slender dogs are rather small and demeur, so they need styles that will fit their statuesque figures. This is why typical dog clothing may be too wide when you try to find an outfit using standard measurements.
Below, we have put together some of our favorite selections of our Italian Greyhound dog owners. They tend to look very good in close fitting sweaters, shirts and tanks. These are really lovely dogs. Some Interesting things about our Favorite Slender Breed. These lovely dogs are part of the toy dog breed so they have many of the features of toy dogs. They can be rather dainty and sensitive. These are fragile dogs that need great care. They're not the kind of dog you'd want to play too rough with. They can also be a bit show and show stress in loud boisterous environments. Correct Sizing:
You might notice that some of our Italian Greyhounds are described as "correct" while others are not. None of them are deformed or anything. Do not worry. As with many dogs, they vary in terms of shape. Show dogs have what many consider to have the "standard" shape. (That is why they are show dogs). So, if an Italian Greyhound (or IG) is referenced as correct, we mean she is what an Italian greyhound should be in size and shape. Not all IGs are the correct size and shape. Some are way too small or big. Some do not have the proper curve for showmanship, that is, rise in their back as an IG would under the AKC. Our Model Anton is a show quality Italian Greyhound. Actually he finished 2005 as #11 Italian Greyhound in the country. We are proud of him. Antons dimensions are: Length:13" Girth:18" Width: 12.5" Neck:9" Chest:3" Anton is wearing Strip is right rugby dog sweater in a size 16 and color lilac & olive. To get the correct fit for an Italian greyhound for this sweater, his owner measured Anton's length and added 2 inches when selecting the size (if you like it big you may consider adding 4 inches). It is the curvieness of the Italian Greyhound in fact, that makes it difficult to get clothes that fit. This is why we have the selection below. We have a variety of sizes of IG models so our customers can select the most appropriate size depending on their IGs shape. Not all Italian Greyhounds are show quality (most are not actually) either because of structure or health. The correct shape and size guide is from the AKC.
